ᐅ Improving the Insulation of Laminate Flooring

Hello,

Since I like to be prepared well in advance, an important question for me is the flooring.
The current apartment has laminate flooring, which I don’t really like.
I’m not sure if it was poorly insulated, but the walking noises are quite disturbing. It also sounds very hollow when you walk on it.
Are there special insulation options for this, or should I rather choose parquet flooring, even if it is more expensive?

Best regards,
Hans

Hi Hanns, you’ll still hear the clicking noise from your wife with parquet flooring, but it has one advantage – you can quickly hide your beer or the Playboy 🙂

Hearing impact noise with laminate flooring is new to me. Parquet is naturally a bit more upscale, and if it is installed correctly, it should be quiet for quite some time. However, it won’t be completely silent either.

We also have laminate flooring in the house and are satisfied with it. Upstairs, I installed impact sound insulation under the laminate. This makes a noticeable difference, and hardly any noise can be heard here.

On the ground floor, I laid a vapor barrier under the laminate. The basement is not heated, and otherwise moisture can build up there. I have already seen moldy laminate, which started at the baseboards.
