Hello,
I would like to start installing some lights on the exterior wall of my garage.
Wall structure: Poroton bricks (unfilled), Styrofoam insulation, and a plaster facade on top. I have about 2cm (0.8 inches) up to the Poroton layer.
Insulation anchors are probably not an option here. The usual fixing methods for ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems) are obviously way too large for this.
So the question is: What should be used? There are things like long-shaft anchors – would they be an option?

what kind of outdoor lights do you want to install that you have to worry about this?
A standard light usually weighs less than 5kg (11 lbs). Typically, the fixtures come with the necessary mounting hardware.
Depending on the cavity size of the Poroton blocks, I would suggest using standard plastic wall plugs (rawlplugs) of the appropriate length, so you drill through at least 2 or 3 cavities and get better anchoring.
If you’re concerned about strength, you could also use frame anchors for windows; these are definitely long enough.
You just need to check the diameter of the holes in the lamp fixture.
To avoid pressure from bending the anchor on the insulation, you can also slightly enlarge the drilled hole by 1–2mm (0.04–0.08 inches) in the plaster and insulation layer…
