We had actually decided to install oak country-style floorboards in our house. The entire floor was supposed to be glued down and cost about 45 euros per square meter (approximately 4.2 USD per square foot).
However, we have now found an offer from a wholesaler for the same floorboards without gluing. The necessary stability is achieved with a clip system that is tightened between the wall and the floorboards. Overall, this option would be significantly cheaper without the adhesive.
Does anyone know this type of glue-free clip system, and would you recommend it?

The clip systems are all very similar; in all cases, adjacent floorboards (not just those between the wall and the floor) are pressed together by the clips (i.e., in the tongue and groove). However, the end faces of the boards are always glued, which is not a major effort.

Hello,

I have also completed this and installed engineered wood planks using clips. It worked very well, and the need for full-surface gluing was eliminated. As the previous poster mentioned, I glued the end joints of the engineered wood planks, but that was not a big task.

I didn’t know that those country-style floorboards don’t have to be glued. So they can be installed using these clips as well. Now I need to look for a guide online.

Of course, there is everything on the internet, including instructions. However, I don’t rely on that because often everyone writes something different. If you want to be sure, then contact the manufacturer.

That’s what I did, and I was able to install my country-style floorboards perfectly. All of this was done using clips.

Thank you, Richard. My husband has now also fastened these engineered wood planks with clips. Only at the end joints did he use adhesive as well. Our engineered wood planks are made of solid wood. These clips are not visible, which I like. The subfloor is screed, and that is not an issue.
