JohKar_Good evening everyone,
We are currently assembling our IKEA Pax wardrobes (236 cm (93 inches)) in an older building. The floor is level, but the problem is the wall, which leans outward near the top. This causes an offset of 21 mm (0.8 inches) at the bottomâpartly due to the baseboardâand about 55 mm (2.2 inches) at the height of the mounting holes. Since we want to install a sliding door over 2 m (6.6 feet) wide this time, I intend to attach it directly to the wall. I havenât done wall mounting before with individual doors.
What ideas do you have for mounting on uneven walls?
My current plan is to use spacers (e.g., square or round wood with drilled holes) and then anchors and screws. For anchors, I would use those from Fischer and glue them in place as well. So far, I have had good experiences with this approach in this older building.
Any other suggestions? I appreciate every bit of advice!
Good luck

Hello!
I think your idea makes the most senseâjust attach a suitable timber beam at the top.
To do this, simply drill matching holes in the bricks (6mm (1/4 inch) should be sufficient), use appropriate wall plugs like Tox Tri or Fuscher Duo Power about 40mm (1 1/2 inches) long, and then secure the timber beam with 5.0 x 80mm (5/16 x 3 1/8 inch) countersunk screws.
There is no need for any adhesive.
The Pax can then simply be screwed onto this timber beam.

Ikea already provides suitable brackets for wall mounting. You just need to use longer screws, insert an appropriate spacer, and then screw the cabinet to it. You can also attach the spacer to the cabinet beforehand if you have already determined the measurement. This makes handling easier.
