Hello everyone,

The electrician has prepared everything for the installation of a satellite system. Now I need to remove one roof tile and mount the satellite dish there. The electrician is asking for about €600 (material, installation, and alignment).

On one hand, I’m reluctant to climb on the roof myself, but on the other hand, it bothers me to pay €600 for this. I can get the dish, LNB, multi-switch, and mast for around €200.

Is it complicated if you’ve never done it before? What do you think, should I avoid doing it myself and have it professionally installed?

I know this myself as a layperson – but I still have a 16mm² (about 5 AWG) insulated earth conductor connected – installed by myself as well

Since there are only a few carefully selected professional antenna installers who are familiar with the testing standards, it would be highly unlikely for a non-professional to use connection components with Class H certification and for there to be no proper grounding in place.

I don’t know – if most craftsmen can’t do it according to you, why should I be any worse?

I don’t need it anyway, so...

The fact is that Dipol is right. Unfortunately... In this respect, it is indeed the fault of the incompetent professional, but ultimately the homeowner is the one who faces the problem.

Good luck

Not really suitable for a single-family house

When lightning strikes, it doesn’t care what the regulations say.
