billiebillson2 Jun 2020 14:09Hello everyone,
I want to install a vapor barrier around the collar beam. Unfortunately, there are several issues. For example, the rafter purlin anchor is in the way. I’ve already tried taping around it, but I found that the membrane isn’t airtight that way.
I have some ideas, but I’m quite uncertain. A simple but perhaps unsightly solution would be to saw through the anchors and bend the metal parts that are in the way. The rafters are mainly fixed to the collar beam at other points. Ideally, the anchors could be moved to the back side of the central purlin. Alternatively, this problem could be solved differently by installing OSB panels in the cavities and then sealing everything around with reinforced tape.
What’s your assessment, or what ideas would you have?
Thanks and best regards
Billie
