Hello everyone,
We are currently considering whether to have the two shower enclosures installed by the plumber in our new build or if it would be better to buy the shower enclosures ourselves and install them. The installation costs 500€ (gross) per enclosure, including measuring. Shower trays will be installed.
Is it better to avoid the hassle and time by having it done professionally, or is this something manageable with DIY skills and some help? What should you be aware of if you decide to do it yourself?
Thanks and best regards!

Some basic DIY skills required. Follow the instructions.Haha, with that tip it always works. As soon as you do it properly, it just works. 😀M

We have two different shower enclosures. The installation price is a fixed flat rate. Upstairs, there is a niche shower (U-shaped) measuring 100x100x195 cm (39x39x77 inches, W x D x H), with a pivot door hinged on the right (the shower enclosure costs 550 euros). On the ground floor, there is a corner shower measuring 95x95x195 cm (37x37x77 inches) with two pivot doors, each hinged to the walls (the shower enclosure costs 1000 euros).
I bought a shower enclosure, 120x90cm (47x35 inches) with a sliding door… the manufacturer offered an installation service for €250, which I booked. Two people came, and everything was finished in less than an hour. I thought to myself, it didn’t look that difficult. But I guess I’m just not very handy after all.
Whether you can install these shower enclosures, we don’t know here. Easily doable with just one left hand.
I installed ours myself.
Important: you need two people to get started!
The enclosure doesn’t care whether the walls meet at a 90 or 89 degree angle. This is not metal construction...
For prefabricated enclosures, following the instructions, it’s absolutely doable. It just takes about five times longer, but who cares?
