ᐅ Install a fall protection edge or guardrail on the loft floor for final inspection approval

As expected, we need a "roll-off protection" on the sleeping loft for our boys in order to pass the building inspection by the authorities. Does anyone have ideas on how to create this simply and attractively?
Attached is a photo from the early stages of construction, but you can still get a good impression of what the sleeping loft looks like. The headroom up there is about 1.80m (5 ft 11 in), the width is approximately 4.70m (15 ft 5 in), and access is via a centrally located removable ladder.
