ᐅ Installing a Photovoltaic System with an Air-to-Water Heat Pump?

Hello everyone,

We recently purchased a house from the developer, and the selection appointment is coming up soon.
Basically, we plan to stick mostly to the "standard" options due to our budget.
The house is equipped with an air-to-water heat pump. In the special requests catalog, there is a photovoltaic system listed for 10kW.

As a layperson, I have the following questions:

- Should we have it installed? Will our electricity then be free in the future?
- How are these systems subsidized or supported?
- Does it make sense to install one?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The topic of photovoltaic systems should be promoted much more, as currently there are practically KfW subsidies only available “through the back door.”
So far, I cannot understand why our environment minister has not taken more active steps here. Let’s wait until Easter to see what surprises the Easter Bunny has hidden 🙂

In fact, regulations regarding home battery storage should also be addressed. When comparing them to a Zoe or a Spring electric car, it might even be possible to purchase the vehicles more affordably than a home battery system.

Feed-in tariffs are supposed to be significantly increased

According to the current draft law, this applies only to full feed-in systems. Then it depends on the price per kWp and the yield (kWh/kWp) whether the return will be higher than the loan interest rates. For a very small system costing less than 10,000€ (about $11,000), this is questionable.

It’s different with surplus feed-in, as it becomes a gamble how electricity prices will develop. The tariff remains at a very low 6.75(?) cents per kWh. Everything revolves around maximizing self-consumption.

As I said, the original poster should better steer clear of this and manage their finances without photovoltaics.

Especially considering the roof orientation as well.
For a new build, this is definitely an important factor, such as potential shading.

This is a 5.6 kW photovoltaic system without storage. There is no further information in the current special request catalog.

@Oetzberger Don’t worry about our finances, the concerns have long since disappeared ;-)

$10,000 for 5.6 kWp is too much. Please read the many relevant threads on this topic in this forum. A fully covered roof is the right answer. However, the developer usually does not provide this for a reasonable price.

Thanks for your answers.
Should I have the pipes installed now? Or is it easy to do at some point in the future?
