hello everyone,

I want to install one or two sensors on the interior side of a basement exterior wall, which will be completely covered with various materials and stuff. I want to occasionally check the measurements to see if the moisture levels behind all that material change over time, potentially leading to mold.

To clarify: the sensor will be attached to an exterior wall inside the basement.

Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I can’t find any practical sensors...

Thanks 🙂

You definitely need to keep access for inspection or maintenance. So fully enclosing the area is not advisable. Do you want to measure the indoor air or the wall itself? For indoor air, for example, TFA offers thermo-hygrometers as transmitters (up to 7) with a radio-based base station. Whether the signal reaches the living room depends heavily on the ceiling, windows, doors, and walls. We are able to cover the ground floor with a reinforced concrete ceiling and the upper floor using this system. The outdoor sensor on the upper floor also works, but the connection regularly drops out at the precast reinforced concrete garage (about 10 m (33 feet) away).
