Hello everyone,
we are trying to decide whether to get an insect screen sliding door for our PSK patio door directly from the builder (for 975 euros) or have it installed afterwards. Similar kits can probably be found online for less, but would there be any advantage if the builder installs it? They would probably just mount it on the outside of the frame or in front of the roller shutter box, right?

Have the middle muntin made at hip or elbow height, because of trays and such. That would actually be the result. The handle recess is also located in the middle muntin. In any case, it’s practical. For me, it was more about visual aspects, since we currently have an unobstructed view through the (sometimes also clean) floor-to-ceiling window panels to the outside greenery. And then the crossbar just hangs there.

This stuff is seriously overpriced.
Basically, they are aluminum frames with plastic mesh inside.
You can easily make these yourself for windows, as there are regularly kits available at stores like Lidl and others.
The quality isn’t any different, but it costs only a tiny fraction of the price.
I would always make something like this myself; it’s not rocket science. And if you measure wrong or make a mistake cutting it, you just do it again—you’ll still have saved the cost of a cheap used car or a nice vacation.

It’s not cheap plastic, and what you get at discount stores is junk.
