My girlfriend and I are moving into a new apartment, and we have put together and ordered our own Metod kitchen from IKEA.
However, I am feeling a bit uneasy about our dishwasher.
We bought a partially integrated Siemens dishwasher: SN55N85EU. According to the datasheet, its niche dimensions are: 815-875 mm (32-34 inches) high, 600 mm (24 inches) wide, 550 mm (22 inches) deep.
Since the dishwasher is partially integrated, it has no front panel, no top cover, and no sides.
Metod cabinet (80 cm / 31.5 inches) + Metod leg (7 cm / 2.75 inches) = 87 cm (34 inches) total height. That would fit the dishwasher’s height. We plan to adjust the height accordingly.
At first, we thought we only needed to buy a front panel. We would get a Metod door with approximately the front dimensions and possibly trim the lower part.
However, here is what worries me:
On the right side of the dishwasher is a Metod cabinet. On the left side, it is open (the housing is visible).
- Are there any suitable cover panels I can use here?
IKEA also offers decorative plinths for the leg area. We have enough of those for the entire kitchen.
They are just under 8 cm (3 inches) high. According to the dishwasher manual, at least 9 cm (3.5 inches) is required. Since the dishwasher will be raised by about 55 mm (2 inches), we would need a decorative panel approximately 14.5 cm (5.7 inches) high.
- Should we rather install the dishwasher inside a Metod cabinet? Is that possible?
I just don’t want the kitchen to look great overall but have the dishwasher area look like a workaround or poorly finished.
Has anyone had experience with partially integrated dishwashers?
Best regards,
Peter K._7165

IKEA-Experte17 Sep 2015 15:22Hello,
you will need to cut a support panel next to the dishwasher yourself to fit, for example from a cabinet side panel.
For a semi-integrated dishwasher, you need ERSÄTTARE and, for example, a 20cm (8 inch) by 60cm (24 inch) front panel.
The standard plinth height of METOD is 8cm (3 inches). If the dishwasher's height adjustment is not sufficient, you can, for example, place it on a piece of countertop.
