Hello everyone,
I specifically signed up here today because the corner wall cabinet of my new IKEA kitchen is driving me crazy.
I already have some experience assembling IKEA furniture and have put together several kitchen cabinets, but this time I just can’t get the shelf board into the cabinet. According to the instructions, you’re supposed to insert it at an angle and then simply turn it, and it should fit. But it doesn’t. Both this method and many other attempts to get the shelf into the cabinet have failed. I’m already at the point of just using the cabinet without the shelf, so you are my last hope.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Is there some kind of trick? Or are my helpers and I just being too clumsy?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Nimsay

Hello, another desperate Ikea kitchen builder... Same issue. 60cm (24 inches) Metod wall corner cabinet. I can’t get the white Utrusta base out, so I can’t put the new glass shelf in. My neighbor also tried. I just can’t figure out the twisting. Is there a video or step-by-step guide??? 😳That definitely won’t work, it’s a 40cm (16 inches) opening. I also assembled the cabinet and thought it would fit, but no, it didn’t, so I had to take it down again.S

I already reorganized the cabinet again last night 😎

I was also looking for a solution for 600mm (24 inches) high corner cabinets, and I have one to offer. I was somewhat annoyed with Suzie.Bode (see above).
Initial consideration: Shortening the glass shelf at the back. A 15x300mm (0.6x12 inch) triangle. Unfortunately, this is not possible. The glass shelf is made of tempered safety glass (ESG). It cannot be cut or ground down. (According to the glass company). For wooden shelves, this would be a possible solution with adjusted dimensions.

Solution for glass shelves: Cut into the back panel.
The cut-out needs to be different sizes depending on whether you want to install one or two glass shelves. I’ve attached a few pictures, hope that works.
Procedure:
Mark and cut out the opening (using a multi-tool)

Smooth the edges (front and back, including the cut-out strip)
1. Insert glass shelf and rest it on the bottom
2. Insert glass shelf and place it on the top supports
1. Place the glass shelf in the lower position
Attach a cross brace (approx. 8-10cm (3-4 inches) long) to mounting tape, feed it through the cut-out, and stick it from behind onto the back panel.

Glue in the strip
Cover with D-C-Fix foil.

I’m glad I didn’t have to take down the wall cabinets.
