Hello!
I have a question about the obvious price range for infrared panels. The purchase cost of a 500W infrared panel is somewhere between €100 and €200 when bought online or through major building material chains/furniture stores.

The offers from companies specializing in infrared heating technology are significantly higher, starting at €500. How can this difference be explained? Installation costs are not included here.

Is the quality of the products really that much better, or are the specialized dealers simply unable to compete with the price pressure?
Thanks for your insights!

Best regards,
Florian

@OWLer Why actually?

During transitional periods or weather changes, it should be possible to quickly heat up without putting too much strain on the heat pump. So, just warming up for about 2 hours in the morning.
Also, we need something to hang towels on while they’re in use. We simply find the radiator quite attractive for that purpose.

Just a serious question. What’s the problem with towels? We hang ours up after showering or bathing, and next time they are completely dry.

Regarding infrared panels:
In my hobby room (basement), I have two inexpensive ones from the internet, each rated at 600W. Their actual power consumption is about 590 watts. They emit a pleasant heat and have been running for several years now. So, I can’t say anything bad about these budget panels. Of course, the design can’t compete with the more expensive models, but that doesn’t matter to me in this use case ;-)

Sure, towels do dry when hung up, but my wife prefers a towel that is both dry AND PRE-WARMED… that’s why we use a towel radiator. It’s not doing much for “heating” the room.

We installed two metal bars for hanging towels in front of the tiles with underfloor heating. It looks better than a bulky radiator, and the towels dry in every season. Additional heating has not been necessary even for a single day.
