Hello,
I want to install an induction cooktop from Neff into a base cabinet from the Faktum series.
Today, the advisor at the electrical store told me that there must be a 4.5 cm (1.8 inch) clearance between the bottom edge of the countertop and the start of the drawer. This is urgently needed for ventilation of the induction cooktop.
I just measured, and there are less than 3 cm (1.2 inches).
How have you solved this problem?
Does nobody have an induction cooktop installed in a Faktum base cabinet??
THANK YOU

IKEA-Freund25 May 2016 22:06Hello,
have you already looked at the installation manual (pdf download under "additional documents" on the Neff page, code II)? It clearly explains the different options for ensuring ventilation (point 3).

P.S.: You obviously mean millimeters (mm), not centimeters (cm)...

yes, of course.. I meant millimeters, not centimeters.
Thanks for the note, I will take a look at it.

karamella7825 May 2016 22:56So, I think the problem can be solved in the simplest way as follows:
I will have to have the countertop for the extra 80 cm (31.5 inches) wide base cabinet custom made anyway, since it is not available from the Faktum replacement service.
The remaining Faktum countertop is 62 cm (24.4 inches) deep.
I will have a 64 cm (25.2 inches) deep countertop made for the base cabinet. This will leave a 2 cm (0.8 inches) gap between the wall and the back of the base cabinet.
The height of the new countertop will also not be 3.8 cm (1.5 inches), but 5 cm (2 inches).
Next problem: none.
I can only find countertops that are 3.8 cm (1.5 inches) high.
Solution: leave out the drawer? Is it possible to install the drawer front without the drawer itself?
Below that are two deeper drawers, which are enough for me.
The back panel will need to be cut horizontally by 4.5 cm (1.8 inches).
But then, how will the frame hold?
Sorry, but it can’t be that a base cabinet always has to be custom made just for an induction cooktop.
I’ll just put two hotplates on top, plug them in, and call it done.

karamella7825 May 2016 23:28We are not skilled in any kind of DIY work ourselves. I can’t even cut a sheet of paper straight with scissors. I will take the assembled carcass along with the drawing to the carpenter, who will cut everything necessary and make the countertop for me.
