Hello again,

I have another question here. We have now decided, to be on the safe side, to involve a construction expert in our new build. However, we started looking into this a bit late, so the contracts have already been signed. Construction, however, has not yet begun.
What I am currently unsure about is the added value of, for example, joining a homeowners’ protection association. It requires an initial fee as well as a monthly contribution. Wouldn’t it be just as effective to hire an independent expert directly? The expert through the homeowners’ association is supposed to be a bit cheaper. Are there any other benefits?
For legal support, I already have legal expenses insurance, or am I misunderstanding this?
I would appreciate any tips.
Oh yes, the build is taking place in the southern part of Bochum, in case anyone has recommendations.
Thank you all.

It doesn’t even have to be a certified expert. There are many engineering firms that employ experienced civil engineers. I have had good experiences with hourly billing.

Legal protection insurance does not cover 99.9% of cases involving new construction, so you should check the terms and conditions carefully...

And please don’t just search for an expert online randomly; we fell into that trap ourselves...
They should preferably be a sworn expert (certified surveyor), then you are on the safe side...
