Hello everyone
I would like to make better use of the ceiling height in the living area. Currently, the screed including insulation is about 12cm (5 inches) thick.
I could reduce this to 9cm (3.5 inches) by using a self-leveling screed. This would give me 3cm (1 inch) more room height.
Right now, the step into the apartment (from the stairwell into the apartment including the floor) is about 3cm (1 inch).

A step of 6cm (2.5 inches) might be too high and unexpected for guests?
Is there another good solution? I have thought about adding an intermediate step of about 3cm (1 inch) in the stairwell.

Unfortunately, accessibility is not an option since the building does not have an elevator.

Without the width of the treads and the floor plan of the stairwell, it is impossible to make any assessment.

In general, the question remains: why would two risers of 3cm (1.2 inches) each be better than a single riser of 6cm (2.4 inches) at an "official" boundary (stairwell/apartment)?

And what benefits does one expect from a ceiling that is 3cm (1.2 inches) higher? I have 2.45m (8 feet) in the living room, and it bothers me very little.

Poor guy. That’s really low. Not even Playmobil figures could fit in there 😀

What kind of apartment are we talking about here? If it is a condominium, as far as I know, the screed floor belongs to the common property. Any changes to it require the approval of the other owners!
