ᐅ In winter, it is cold; in summer, it is hot. The choice of material for a house’s structure plays a crucial role in managing indoor climate and energy efficiency throughout the year.

Hello everyone. I have a question about where I live, with winters around -30°C (-22°F) and summers around +30°C (86°F). Which building material is best for constructing a house under these conditions? What would you choose to build with? The house is a single-story private home with gas heating, and there is a river nearby. Your ideas on this topic would be interesting. Thank you.

Wood is a good material, but unfortunately the price is higher. Here, too, construction using aerated concrete is becoming more popular. It is more durable than wood and warmer than brick or reinforced concrete. Is this how buildings are constructed in Germany?

Almost everything is used for construction here.
Timber frame and masonry (from bricks to aerated concrete) are the main building materials. Solid wood, formwork blocks, and concrete are also common.

I think our climate is quite moderate and allows for a lot of flexibility.

You have to decide. Engage in discussions and think it through. Just make sure not to force anyone or work with unfamiliar building materials.

Do you want to build yourself or hire someone?

The major work will be carried out by the professionals, the rest we will do ourselves.
