Hello everyone. I have a question about where I live, with winters around -30°C (-22°F) and summers around +30°C (86°F). Which building material is best for constructing a house under these conditions? What would you choose to build with? The house is a single-story private home with gas heating, and there is a river nearby. Your ideas on this topic would be interesting. Thank you.

In Germany, it doesn’t matter what material you build with. Well, minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit) is rare, even on the Zugspitze.
Where are you building?

In Scandinavia, Canada, and Alaska, wood is the building material. Probably wood.

I did not say that I am building in Germany. I live in the European part of Russia.

So I’m asking, where are you building?

Wood is common in your area, right?

Thank you, I understand. Yes, that is common. Spruce. Round timber and beams.
