Hello everyone,
We have two secondary entrance doors that could ideally use some extra burglary protection. Do you have any tips on retrofit systems that could be used for this? The doors are made of uPVC with partial glazing.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions 🙂

At this size, no. Burglars with trained monkeys or little people as accomplices, in my opinion, are not the norm in reality ;-)At my parents’ house, they broke in through an approximately 60cm x 40cm (24 inches x 16 inches) window in the dormer (above the beach chair → patio roof). Presumably young girls.

That might be hard for you to believe, but it is true. Readers who pay attention will know that I work in an industry that deals with these phenomena. Therefore, I can say: if someone wants to get in, they will. Usually not through the front door, but rather through an inconspicuous window in a location that is not visible.

The attentive reader knows that I work in an industry that has to deal with these phenomena. In the industry you’re referring to, it is also understood that while each group of offenders has its own “preferences,” economic principles are always considered: low-hanging fruits first; choosing the path of least resistance or noise; minimizing the time spent during the break-in phase; and, depending on the offenders’ intelligence, maintaining a “reasonable balance” between loot and penalty.
The attentive reader also knows that I previously worked in another industry connected to this phenomenon (window manufacturing). Out of conviction, I pay no less attention to secondary doors and windows. The phrase “Not with this size” specifically refers to the dimension 40x40, where my concerns would be limited to a gang of stretchy people: no burglar likes to end up in the newspaper for having been cut out by the fire department ;-)

tamtamtam28 Jan 2019 13:54I can recommend the Caucasian Ovcharka and a Doberman. Why two?
The Caucasian stays outside in the winter (in the kennel) and the Doberman sleeps inside the house.
However, I only have problems when packages arrive, as they are no longer delivered. But I can live with that.

Dog(s) will come, but only once there is a fence around the property 🙂 Until then, all "entry points" need to be secured. Especially the windows that face the back, as there is only the garden and a high wooden fence towards the neighbor. And since we live just 1km (0.6 miles) from the A6 motorway ramp heading towards the Czech Republic....
