Hello everyone,

We have two secondary entrance doors that could ideally use some extra burglary protection. Do you have any tips on retrofit systems that could be used for this? The doors are made of uPVC with partial glazing.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions 🙂

The simplest retrofit solution is likely crossbars spanning the entire door width.

Place a dog bowl in front of it.

In our area, there was actually a break-in on New Year's Eve. Not at our place, but at others. Why not at ours? No idea. We were at a party and not home until 4 a.m. But maybe the house looks too humble? Doesn’t matter. I cut a board to wedge under the door handle, so it can’t be forced down, and that keeps the door secure. I don’t have a good idea yet for the patio door. The front door has these five mushroom-shaped bolts, so I trust it offers some resistance.

If the door is forced open, the board won’t help. It doesn’t prevent that.

If you had a lift-and-slide door, you could place your board in the track there.

Then you must use the emergency exit door yourself *LOL*
