In our area, there was actually a break-in on New Year's Eve. Not at our place, but at others. Why not at ours? No idea. We were at a party and not home until 4 a.m. But maybe the house looks too humble? Doesn’t matter. I cut a board to wedge under the door handle, so it can’t be forced down, and that keeps the door secure. I don’t have a good idea yet for the patio door. The front door has these five mushroom-shaped bolts, so I trust it offers some resistance.

I cut a board to size and wedge it under the door handle, so it can’t be turned and the door stays closed. If the door is forced open, the board won’t help. It doesn’t prevent that.

I have now cut a board and wedge it under the door handle, so it can't be removed and that way the door stays closed. Then you must use the emergency exit door yourself *LOL*
