I’m a bit frustrated right now because I forgot an important detail in our walk-in showers: a shelf or recess for shampoo and other toiletries. And that’s despite friends reminding me, who made the same mistake themselves. They still regret having to buy those basket-type holders every year because the old ones start to rust, whether cheap or expensive… eventually they all rust.

Do you have any good ideas for wall-mounted storage solutions?

Thanks for your help!

We tiled our shelf. It is a stainless steel shelf into which, for example, a floor tile is simply glued. It works perfectly.
This should still be possible without any problems. However, they are not exactly cheap.

Thanks for your suggestions! There are some great ideas here! How did the tiler do it? I mean, what is underneath the tiled surface?

How did the tiler do it? I mean, what is "underneath" the tiled area?

Here is a photo. We are very satisfied with it!

The tiles look familiar to me. 😉 Have you also been to Ensdorf? By any chance, did you build with Signum?

This is how it looks for us (photo from the construction phase, so the grout is not applied yet):

May I ask how much a niche like that costs? And what the tiled shelves cost?

I sourced the stainless steel shelf myself back then. The prices for the shelves range from 60 to 200 euros. My tile supplier installed it free of charge. :-)
