Dear forum members,
I have limited experience with electrical work but would like to upgrade the lighting controls in my basement and outside. It’s not much, but we simply lack certain functions in daily use. Of course, I only want to replace the existing switches in the distribution box, without rewiring anything...
The current setups are:
a) A staircase lighting circuit with a Theben Elpa 8 staircase timer switch controlling the outdoor light.
b) A basement light circuit with push buttons and a simple Eltako S12-100 relay.
What I would like to achieve and how I plan to do it based on online research:
a) The outdoor light should have the option to be switched to continuous light at the switch (at least 1 hour). For this, I found the Theben Elpa 6, which is connected exactly like the current Elpa 8.
Is that correct? Are there other product recommendations?
b) The basement light should have a timer function, also with a continuous light option. For this, with the current wiring, I need an impulse relay (latching relay) that offers this function, right? I’m uncertain which one to choose. The Eltako TLZ12-8PLUS has the function “impulse relay with delayed release” and should be suitable for this, correct? Regarding the control voltage of 8–230 V AC/DC specified in the datasheet for terminals -C1 and +C1, can I simply leave these terminals disconnected with my current wiring?
Thank you very much for your help, experiences, and advice on other suitable products!
