Hello,

I am planning to install a wired intrusion alarm system inside our new two-story single-family house. The system will use motion detectors. I do not want to monitor the windows with contact sensors, although there are about 20 windows on the ground floor that would need monitoring. However, I only want to install the system on the ground floor.

The control panel will be installed near the door in the basement. On the upper floor, I will need an additional unit to arm and disarm the alarm, for example, if someone wants to access the refrigerator.

I have not been able to find such a device from common light switch manufacturers.

Does anyone have recommendations for an alarm system manufacturer or general advice on installing alarm systems?

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards

There are now motion detectors available that are immune to pets.

The windows should not be monitored with contacts

You are free to do that, and of course we don’t know your reasons. But it would be a good idea to get advice from the police beforehand.

Hi
If you are planning to install an alarm system, I can give you a tip: there is a KfW subsidy that offers an investment grant of up to 1500€ (about 1600 USD). Of course, some regulations must be followed, such as applying for the grant before the installation.

If it is only about the alarm system and motion detectors, I can only recommend [Link removed by mod, see forum rules 3.4] brands that have VdS certification, as this means the brand has been tested and proven reliable. Examples of these brands are Daitem, Telenot, and Jablotron.

Window contacts are very important, as well as upgrading doors and windows. I hope you are aware that most break-ins happen through windows or patio/balcony doors.

I would also recommend having a security check done by a company. They often offer this service for free and will inspect your house for vulnerabilities.
