Litizicke2 Jul 2016 19:03I have been an IKEA fan for over 35 years and just built a tall sewing table using TILLEFÄLLE and my 36-year-old SÖRGARDEN dining table. When taking apart the old table, it was immediately noticeable that back then 10mm (0.4 inches) wooden dowels and really large screws and cam locks were used.
It’s quite amazing. Last winter, I built a walk-in closet with Pax. There were only 5mm (0.2 inches) wooden dowels included.
I would like to attach a photo but can’t seem to find the function right now.
Best regards, Litizicke

You cannot compare a table with a cabinet. The panels are made of particle board and only 18mm (0.7 inches) thick (often thinner with other manufacturers). If the hole for the wooden dowel is drilled too large, the board will break under even slight stress.
