Hello everyone, I was told by the retailer that the difference between beech and birch boards is just a matter of personal preference, with one being light and the other reddish and darker. I chose birch because it looked more light yellow both in the store and in the product photo. However, when unpacking the boards, I noticed that although the article number is correct, the birch boards look just as reddish as the beech boards or the thin LAGAN boards. Could the wrong items have been packed? I actually think beech would be better, but I chose birch only because of the color tone. By the way, is treating them with Ikea BEHANDLA oil enough?

Hi,

Wood is a natural material, so color variations are completely normal. Birch panels don’t look like beech—it's just an optical illusion, believe me, unless you have a direct side-by-side comparison? We once had Billy doors in the showroom that also showed a slight reddish tint in the birch wood. That’s just how it is. This individuality is exactly what makes wood special. If you want 100% the same exact decor, you would have to choose embossed walnut.

Yes, treating the wood with Behandla is absolutely correct. Always follow the instructions on the oil or in the panel packaging carefully, and you’ll enjoy your panel for a long time.

Best regards

Hello, yes, I have a direct color tone comparison since I previously had a Lagan beech (reddish). The Numerär birch board looks exactly the same (red tone) and visually has nothing to do with the yellow board shown in the linked image or in the model kitchen. Regards, N.
