Hello,

I have a question. I am currently putting together a Faktum kitchen. I recently saw the SMAKRIK EM built-in espresso machine at IKEA. Somehow, I find this appliance appealing. However, it’s not really worth it for me just for espresso. Is it possible to make regular coffee with this SMAKRIK as well?

Hello,

I took a photo for you. If you were to position the EM higher, you would have the opening at the bottom or, like in my case now, just above the machine.

I expected the device to be a bit better. I am used to pod machines where you press a button, the water flows through, and the program automatically stops.
With the SMAKRIK, you have to stay by the machine and press the water button again once the desired amount is reached to stop it.

I learned today that ESE pods are firmer pods. The regular, widely available pods are slightly too large for use with the SMAKRIK. You have to press them into the pod holder so that the edges of the pod don’t stick out; otherwise, the device won’t close properly, and the espresso will spill past the handle on both sides.

The longer you wait, the hotter the coffee water gets. As I mentioned before, you should wait 30 minutes after switching it on. That doesn’t mean that only cold coffee comes out right after turning on the machine.

Does anyone have an installation manual for the SMAKRIK machine? I bought it used, and it didn’t come with any instructions.

Maybe someone has a link or the time to scan it.
