I have a question. I am currently putting together a Faktum kitchen. I recently saw the SMAKRIK EM built-in espresso machine at IKEA. Somehow, I find this appliance appealing. However, it’s not really worth it for me just for espresso. Is it possible to make regular coffee with this SMAKRIK as well?

Nayla_10682 Mar 2011 18:48Phew, good question.
I’m quite sure that there is only a filter basket for regular coffee grounds, not for pods. Neither for regular coffee nor espresso.
To be 100% sure, I would have to ask myself first.

Hello everyone. I am new here and also interested in the coffee machine!
According to the description on the website, the machine also works with pods:
Information
Pump pressure: 15 bar.
Power: 1160 W.
Water tank capacity: 2 liters (0.5 gallons).
Filter inserts for ground coffee and pods.
Steam wand for frothing milk, e.g. for cappuccino.

So, I now have this machine installed in my cabinet.
Yes, pads (all ESE pods) work with it. However, anyone planning to install it in a cabinet should also buy a kickboard and cut it exactly in half lengthwise, because the espresso machine leaves a hole about 8-9 cm (3-3.5 inches) high above the machine.
I have a 211 cm (83 inches) tall cabinet for the oven and microwave/espresso machine.
The espresso machine’s manual also mentions that you should get something like this. Really annoying—wish IKEA had told me this beforehand.
And if you want espresso, you have to wait 30 minutes after turning it on before you can make coffee.

IKEA-Experte17 Mar 2012 10:34The cabinet includes the 9.4cm (3.7 inches) wide end panel, right? Or is there supposed to be another one installed behind the panel?
