The glass top of the Granas rests on silicone pads that are inserted into the metal table frame. The glass is adjusted on and rests non-slip on the rounded surface of these pads.

Due to sun exposure, these pads have become misshapen and have developed an oily yellowish discoloration. As a result, the glass top slides around on the frame. Are replacement parts available for this at IKEA or similar items at a hardware store?

IKEA-Experte4 Mar 2014 15:09You will need to check with customer service. You have the part number in your picture.
Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it wasn’t very helpful.
First, I called, then after what felt like 10 minutes of navigating the menu (and I DO have patience with this kind of thing), there was no option for “spare parts” or “product inquiries.” I hung up out of frustration. 🙄
So I tried email, since that’s offered as a contact option on the website. I got a response immediately, which was great! But the reply said: Please use the online contact form for your request. 🙄
In the contact form, I’m supposed to enter my personal contact details for a “spare parts order” – but I’m not even trying to order a part yet, I just want to find out IF these items are available as spare parts at all. 🙄

IKEA-Experte4 Mar 2014 19:13Well, if those parts are still available as replacements, you probably want to have them anyway. So you might as well order them now—it doesn't cost anything.
If you want to speak to someone directly, you have to say something incomprehensible until you get transferred to a real person in the queue.

The parts would have to be picked up on site anyway, so why give all the details online just to find out if they even exist? Maybe they’re even available in one of those vending machines in the service area, where you can get these wooden dowels in exchange for a 50-cent (about 20¢) voucher, and don’t need to be ordered individually at all? I only visit IKEA once in a blue moon, so I just want some information on whether replacements exist at all, for heaven’s sake!
If you want to speak to someone in person, you have to say something incomprehensible until you get transferred to a real person on hold.I’ll definitely try that. So far, after twice saying something incomprehensible, all I got was repeated “Pardon?”, but maybe you need to mumble nonsense 10 times 😀
