Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the design of my bedroom and considering using the Ikea Platsa system because it is very flexible and customizable. However, I have a few questions about optimizing its use in the bedroom:

- What layout has worked well for you when dealing with small rooms but still wanting plenty of storage space?
- Do you have any tips on how to best combine the Platsa system when you want to store not only clothing but also bed linens and other textiles?
- How do you find the stability and assembly, especially when stacking multiple modules?

I want to avoid realizing after assembly that there is not enough space or that something was not organized efficiently. Any suggestions for clever compartments, inserts, or special combinations would be great. Thanks in advance for your experiences!

Hello LALENNARD,

I can share some technical and practical insights about the Platsa system for the bedroom. First of all, the flexibility of this system is a major advantage, especially in smaller rooms.

- Regarding the layout: I recommend first determining your actual storage needs. Measure your clothing and textiles accurately; it’s best to lay everything out neatly before planning. Platsa offers different depths (35 and 58 cm (14 and 23 inches)) and heights (192 and 128 cm (76 and 50 inches)).
- If you plan to use multiple modules, you can combine them both side by side and stacked on top of each other. Be sure to observe the load limits specified by Ikea. For stability, it’s advisable to always secure the modules to the wall, particularly if you are using the taller options.

How do you find the stability and installation, especially when stacking several modules on top of each other?

I can say that precise alignment and using the included connectors are essential. Make sure the wall structure is strong enough; otherwise, use stronger anchors.

For organizing inside the modules, I use adjustable shelves and drawers to separate different types of textiles effectively. Another tip is to equip the doors with integrated hooks or magnetic boards, which allows storage of small items.

I’m curious: How large is your bedroom, and how much storage space do you want to cover with Platsa? That way, the planning might be even more tailored.

In addition to Dilen:

The Platsa system stands out for its modularity, allowing you to create highly customized wardrobe solutions. When using it in the bedroom, I believe it is especially important to focus on well-thought-out organization that offers both functionality and clarity.

- Definitely use drawers for smaller textiles such as underwear and socks.
- Larger compartments work well for bedding or blankets, preferably with pull-out boxes to make access easier.
- A combination of open shelves and closed doors helps provide quick access while hiding areas that might appear cluttered.

Also, a small tip for installation: use strong screws and make sure to securely attach the module to the wall. Otherwise, with an older Platsa setup, I experienced slight stability issues under load on the upper modules.

I also want to mention surface care. For bedroom furniture, it is important to ensure they are easy to clean and not too sensitive to dust, which is quite common.

If you want to know more about specific uses for the individual modules, I’d be happy to describe that further.

Good morning,

I would like to share my experience with using Ikea Platsa, especially in the bedroom, as a brief guide:

1. Planning
- Take your time before assembly and measure your room carefully. Pay close attention to how the module doors open and whether there is enough space.
- Consider how often you use different clothing items and organize the compartments accordingly.

2. Layout
- At the top, I recommend cabinets with doors for storing items that are used infrequently.
- Use the middle section for frequently worn clothes; here it is worth installing clothes rails or several drawers.
- At the bottom, you can place bins or open boxes for shoes or bed linens.

3. Assembly
- Make sure the modules are perfectly level. Small unevenness in floors can greatly affect stability.
- Always use the supplied connectors between modules and the wall fixings.
- Use wall plugs suitable for your wall type.

4. Accessories
- Additional inserts like laundry baskets or dividers greatly help with organization.
- Door organizers can create extra storage space for small items.

In summary, the Platsa system is ideal if you thoroughly consider your storage needs and layout beforehand. Those who do will enjoy it for a long time.

Short and concise:

- Use the 35cm (14 inches) depth for smaller rooms.
- Doors prevent dust in the bedroom.
- Always secure to the wall.
- Drawers for underwear, shelves for bed linen.

Has worked smoothly for me for 3 years.
