Hello,
We are currently moving into our beige-brown extension to a single-family house.
We thought we could reuse our existing Ikea Pax wardrobes, 1.50 m (5 feet) wide with Malm sliding doors.
The wardrobe is planned to be expanded to 2.0 or possibly 2.25 m (6.5 or 7.4 feet) wide.
New question: Is it generally possible to install standard cabinet carcasses with hinged doors next to the existing sliding doors? We could possibly mount the carcasses with different depths so that the sliding door mechanism is not affected.
Does anyone have experience with this?
We do not want to dispose of the existing wardrobes since they are still in perfect condition!

See the image below: the mentioned wardrobe is intended to be used and expanded as a bedroom closet.

Thank you all!

My mother has both side by side, and it works for her.

If possible, I would extend it to 250 cm (98 inches) and add a 50 cm (20 inches) element on each side. If the door hinge is placed on the outside on both sides, there should definitely be no issues, and overall it would look more intentional.
