Hello everyone,
I’m currently a bit confused about the purposes of different hinges. I already know that 153° hinges are needed for internal drawers. But when do you need 95°, 125°, or 45° hinges? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
If someone is familiar with this, I would appreciate a brief explanation.
Best regards, schnecki

IKEA-Experte3 Jul 2014 11:03- Do I need to get the hinges myself when buying, or does a tall cabinet for a refrigerator automatically come with a 95-degree hinge? They should be included on the list. However, you usually don’t need them if the refrigerator is not from IKEA, since built-in refrigerators mostly have concealed hinges.
- Should an IKEA employee automatically provide 95-degree hinges where a cabinet is positioned against a wall? No, there are no dampers for that hinge. Blum makes an opening angle limiter, but so far it does not fit the hinges sold by IKEA.
- Are there dampers for all hinges? I remember that there were no dampers for the 153-degree hinges with Faktum.
- Regarding dampers, I recall an earlier Faktum thread where it was recommended to buy a combined hinge with an integrated damper (such as Blumotion) from Blum rather than purchasing clip-on dampers from IKEA. Is this still the case with Metod? IKEA now offers dampers for the 153° hinge as well.
Other than that, nothing has changed, except that you need different mounting plates than with Faktum.

IKEA-Experte7 Jul 2014 18:06I need to make a correction. Besides the mounting plates, there is another difference between the INTEGRAL and Utrusta hinges. The two holes next to the hinge cup are no longer 5 mm (0.2 inches) in diameter but 8 mm (0.3 inches). This now matches the standard for Blum hinges. It has therefore become easier, and you can use Blum hinges with INSERTA without having to enlarge the drill holes in the door. Hinges with screw fastenings are no longer suitable.
Tip regarding the 95° opening angle and dampers: Although there are no dampers for 95° hinges, you can mix 95° hinges with 125° hinges on regular cabinets.
I have installed one 125° hinge with a damper at the top and one 95° hinge at the bottom on the outer wall cabinets. Since the hinges are constructed differently, I initially worried the door might come out skewed when opening. However, this is not the case, the hinges are compatible with each other. The only tricky part is alignment because the hinges use different adjustment methods.
Now, the lower hinge limits the opening angle, and the upper one provides soft closing.
And since I installed two doors this way, I managed to use all the hinges without any leftover, despite having two packs.

95° for refrigerators and freezers with lever arm technology.
45° for corner wall cabinets. The hinge image on the website is incorrect.
125° for most cases.
153° when the door needs to open very wide or for pull-out interiors, as the hinge also ensures the door opens without a gap. Is it possible that the 153° hinge can or should also be used for corner wall cabinets? That was the statement from an Ikea employee... if I understood correctly, the hinge is always included with the corner wall cabinet, unlike the other carcasses. It would just be good to know in advance because I still want to buy a damper and that one is not available for 45°.
