Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of installing the doors of my Ikea Metod kitchen unit to achieve the best possible fit. I have noticed that even with careful alignment, small gaps often appear, or the doors do not close completely flush. My question is: What proven methods and specific adjustments do you use to optimize the installation of Metod doors so that they not only sit straight but also close flush and remain well-aligned over time? Are there any tricks for adjusting the hinges or recommendations for preparing the drill holes? I am especially interested in practical tips that go beyond the standard instructions.

Another point I would like to add: If your doors are not sitting perfectly flush, also check the hinges themselves for possible manufacturing tolerances or deformations – metal parts can easily be bent. Sometimes it can help to gently reshape the hinges slightly with pliers. I also recommend always replacing the hinges in pairs to ensure even swing behavior.

Good morning, thank you for the valuable contributions so far. I would like to know how you handle corners and edges of doors, which are often slightly misaligned and therefore cause shadow gaps to look uneven. Are there any special adjustment techniques or work steps to immediately improve the appearance?

In my view, this is indeed a weak point in Ikea kitchens. I would say: You need to take your time to achieve clean edges and adjust the doors only minimally at the end until the shadow gaps look visually acceptable. Sometimes this is just one or two millimeters (around 0.04 to 0.08 inches), but the difference is huge. It is important not to fix them too early and not to overtighten the screws, as this makes later adjustments impossible.

Regarding shadow gaps, I recommend the following points:
- Before final installation, align all doors using masking tape so that the gaps appear visually consistent.
- Make slight adjustments with the adjustment screws until the visual impression is satisfactory.
- Doors should not be too tightly fitted; a small, even gap ensures clean shadow gaps.
- Adjust the height on both doors of a corner type synchronously so they finish at the same level.
- If unsure, a slight mark on the inside can help secure the optimal position when finally tightening the screws.
This method prevents the need for later readjustments and contributes to long-term stability.
