Hello everyone, I am currently planning a reorganization of my kitchen using the IKEA Metod system and want to maximize storage efficiency, especially focusing on internal organizers. I am particularly interested in strategies to achieve the best overview and space utilization without making everything look cluttered or having to rummage around constantly. Which types of internal organizers—such as drawer inserts, dividers, or special inserts for cutlery and pots—work best in practice? Are there any tips for combining different inserts to use the space more intelligently? I look forward to your shared experiences!
An important addition: When using Metod, take advantage of the different drawer module depths (e.g., 37cm (15 inches) and 60cm (24 inches) deep) to create a better layout. In the deeper drawers, you can use wider but shallower inserts, while taller drawers in the upper sections provide more volume for bulkier items. I also recommend always transferring the measurements accurately during planning, either with the IKEA planning software or pen and paper. People often underestimate how much clearance is needed for drawer slides and opening. Also, document which items you want to store – this helps with organization!

What I take away most is that less can be more, that flexible partitions and removable inserts are incredibly helpful, and that clarity should not suffer due to intentional open spaces. I’ll start with a combination of transparent, adjustable inserts for the lower drawers and definitely place frequently used items towards the front. Thanks also for the tip about drawer depth – I hadn’t considered that enough. I’m curious to see how it goes and will get back with any further questions.
