Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a kitchen renovation and want to use furniture from the Ikea Metod system. My question to the community is: What is the most efficient way to assemble kitchen furniture during renovations like this?

I am particularly interested in:
- How can I best plan the installation in advance to save time?
- Are there proven steps or tools that make assembly easier?
- Are there specific points to consider during renovations to avoid rework later on?

I have some experience with furniture assembly but want to avoid mistakes and find the best approach.

Thanks in advance for your tips!

As an additional tip: When renovating, it is often about precisely fitting cabinets to existing walls. Use a long spirit level or a laser level to identify any inaccuracies – this is especially necessary with older walls.

Also, make sure to pay close attention to the ventilation behind the cabinets, particularly if you are integrating electrical appliances.

Proper preparation can make the installation process not only faster but also safer.

Check all screw connections once more at the end. Tighten the screws slightly after the cabinets are installed. This increases stability and prevents later wobbling.

When assembling, make sure that the cabinets are joined at a perfect right angle. Otherwise, issues with doors and drawers may arise later. A carpenter’s square is very helpful as a measuring tool for this.

This is very important! I underestimated it during my first assembly. In the end, when you pull on the cabinets, the doors get stuck and everything is misaligned.

If possible, check again in between with a spirit level – it’s better to measure twice than to build once incorrectly.

1. Preparation:
- Measure rooms thoroughly and mark the exact positions of the cabinets.
- Check wall and floor levels for unevenness and correct them, for example with leveling compounds.

Very good point, thanks! What is the best way to assess such unevenness? Is a simple spirit level enough, or should I use a specialized measuring device?

Also, what is the maximum allowable unevenness before I need to take action? I would prefer not to be surprised at the end.
