Hello everyone,
I have glass fronts on my IKEA Metod kitchen that I really want to clean without streaks. So far, I haven’t been satisfied with the results because there are always unpleasant smudges or streaks left behind, even though I’ve tried different glass cleaners and used cloths with varying degrees of softness. Therefore, my question to the forum is: Which cleaning methods and care products work best to get the glass fronts of the IKEA Metod kitchen truly streak-free and to maintain them optimally over the long term? Are there any special tips to consider for this material in order to avoid damaging the surface while still effectively removing typical fingerprints or water spots? I’m looking forward to your experiences and advice – thanks in advance!

I prefer things simple and practical: I clean Metod glass fronts with a damp microfiber cloth, then wipe large sections with a dry cloth. If there are more smudges, I add a splash of white vinegar to the water – it works great for a quick refresh without damaging the surface. Stick to natural solutions; it saves hassle and avoids harsh chemicals!
I think the whole fuss about special cleaners for glass fronts is somewhat overrated. Most people overcomplicate the process, but ultimately you just need to clean thoroughly once, and after that, fingerprints are minimal as long as you don’t keep touching the surfaces constantly.
Also, streaks usually appear from using too much cleaner or the wrong cloth – no wonder glass fronts end up looking the way they do. So why not just wait and wipe them quickly when necessary? It saves both time and frustration.

I think the whole thing with special cleaners for glass fronts is somewhat overrated.I see this quite differently. Especially with Ikea Metod glass fronts, proper surface care is important to protect the transparent coating. If you only wipe them quickly, you will eventually get dull spots or scratches. That’s why I recommend a gentle cleaning method that preserves the surface texture while still cleaning thoroughly. This is the only way to maintain the appearance in the long term.
