Hello everyone,

I recently installed an Ikea Metod kitchen with glass fronts and am not completely satisfied with the cleaning results. After cleaning, small streaks often remain, which detracts from the otherwise elegant and modern appearance of the fronts. I would like to know how to clean the Metod glass fronts without leaving streaks and which maintenance measures are recommended to preserve their long-lasting shine. Are there any special cleaning products, specific techniques, or perhaps home remedies that have proven effective? I appreciate any tips and experiences that can help keep these maintenance-intensive glass fronts in flawless condition.

Hi,

for streak-free glass fronts, I recommend using a microfiber cloth and a glass cleaner without additives such as oils or alcohol. After cleaning, wring out the cloth well and polish the surface dry. A window chamois also works well.

I am well familiar with the problem of streaks, and it’s really annoying when the beautiful shine is affected. For me, it is important not to apply too much pressure and not to clean with excessive moisture to avoid water spots. It also helps me to carry out the cleaning process deliberately slowly and calmly – this way, small residues are less frustrating. It may sound simple, but for me, the balance between patience and the right technique makes all the difference.

From a technical perspective, the following points should be considered for Ikea Metod glass fronts:

- Use only pH-neutral or mildly acidic cleaners, as aggressive substances can damage the coatings.
- Microfiber cloths are especially suitable for streak-free cleaning of the glass surfaces.
- After cleaning, always polish with a dry, clean cloth to remove any remaining moisture and prevent water spots.
- Do not use abrasive sponges, as they can cause scratches.

These steps help protect the surface and maintain its shine for a longer time.

Avoid cleaners containing ammonia and do not use paper towels. These often cause more streaks than they prevent. A good microfiber cloth and clear water or a specialized glass cleaner are completely sufficient.

Absolutely crucial! Nothing dulls the shine more than a cloth that’s too wet – you almost have to work like a glass magician. 😊

I usually spray a bit of vinegar-water mixture, then wipe with a microfiber cloth and finish by polishing everything with a dry cotton cloth. The result is wonderfully streak-free and fresh!
