Hi ho DIY corner! 😎

We are currently planning a METOD cabinet, which will be 60 cm deep (24 inches), but can only have shortened drawers in some parts (there are 10 cm (4 inches) pipe protrusions at the top back inside the cabinet that need to be concealed). We could use the 37 cm (15 inches) deep drawers, but that would be a waste of space since the 45 cm (18 inches) deep ones would also fit. However, these only come in tall versions, while the cabinet’s drawer fronts should be arranged 10-10-20-40. 😕

So here is my question:

Is it possible to assemble an 80x45 cm (31x18 inches) tall and an 80x60 cm (31x24 inches) low Maximera drawer so that in the end you get an 80x60 cm (31x24 inches) tall and an 80x45 cm (31x18 inches) low drawer?
Basically swapping the drawer backs?
You would need to reorder the 60 cm (24 inches) side rails, but since those are spare parts, that should be straightforward.
Am I missing something, or do the drawers have different mechanisms?
The assembly instructions list different parts, for example for the low drawers part no. 144259 – but is that just a rail component that is already integrated in the tall drawers?

Since the 45 cm (18 inches) deep drawers are more expensive, we don’t want to risk trying this if it goes wrong and we can’t separate the drawer frames from the back panel, making it impossible to return. :p

Thanks and best regards!

That works. The back panel and the frames can also be separated from each other fairly easily.

Cool, thanks. And good to know that it can be separated after all – I couldn’t get it apart back then. Do you happen to know a guide or video for that?

No, I have always just pulled it apart like that.
