ᐅ IKEA Malm nightstand wobbles despite wall mounting – what to do now?

Hello everyone,
I recently mounted an IKEA Malm nightstand on my bedroom wall to prevent wobbling. Despite using the included wall brackets and securely screwed mounting points, the nightstand still has noticeable movement, especially when I put some weight on it (for example, placing a phone or a lamp on it). The wall fixing is correct, and the screws, as far as I can tell, are firmly anchored in the wall (concrete).
My question is: what could be causing the wobbling despite wall mounting, and what methods or measures would you recommend to firmly secure the furniture? Are there alternative mounting methods or tips that IKEA users have found effective through experience?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

As an addition:
The standard assembly instructions from IKEA usually recommend simple plastic wall anchors for Malm nightstands. These are suboptimal for solid concrete walls, especially when the furniture is expected to bear loads beyond its own weight.
The following recommendations:
- Use high-quality metal anchors (chemical anchors or metal screw anchors) for concrete walls to ensure durable load-bearing capacity.
- Ensure that the anchor holes are drilled precisely (correct diameter, no cracks in the concrete).
- Use at least two wall brackets, spaced at different heights, to prevent tilting.
- In addition to wall mounting, internal reinforcement of the back panel is advisable, for example with stiffened angle brackets or wooden battens, to improve load transfer.
- Check whether the screws connect the furniture directly to the wall or only to the back panel – the latter is unsuitable for stability.
These points help ensure the long-term stability of the nightstand.

I used standard plastic wall plugs because IKEA includes them. I guess I should upgrade, right?I understand how frustrating it is when the included parts don’t fit perfectly. It always feels like a “cheap compromise” during installation.
Maybe it helps to approach the installation again and see your experience as a learning process. High-quality wall plugs don’t have to be expensive and can significantly reduce the feeling of instability when things wobble.
If you’re unsure: you could loosen the screws from the plugs, remove the plugs, insert new appropriate ones, and tighten everything again. This will give you more security.
Feel free to keep us updated on how you proceed. Sometimes it’s also fun to watch such DIY tasks help a project grow together 🙂
