I have now found a solution: I lightly coated all the screws with regular vegetable oil (didn’t have anything else on hand) and they screwed in easily without any problems.
Best regards

Good evening,
after 5 years of use, the bed frame has now broken – specifically, the central beam at the headboard has broken off. Not only did the screws break out of the wood, but the central beam was also very bent and nearly torn like a piece of metal.
Since we are currently completely out of funds and also urgently need new mattresses, I have first replaced the central beam to reassemble the bed “one level higher.”
Now I am really struggling with the screws for the metal side rails:
They absolutely refuse to go in, despite using a cordless drill and applying force. Could it be that the wood has simply become harder to work with over time? Does anyone have a tip on how I can fully drive in the screws?
After all, it would be great if it could hold for a while and not break again in three weeks…
Thanks and best regards
