Hello everyone,

I have a question and hope someone here can help me.
My son is starting school this year, and now we need a desk.
We went to IKEA and found one.

It’s the Linnmon Alex in dark brown (120 x 60 cm (47 x 24 inches)).
But I noticed that unfortunately, there is no hutch or shelf unit available for this desk.

My idea is that the Besta desk has a hutch – could that possibly be attached to the IKEA Linnmon Alex desk?

I don’t know how it’s fastened, but the desk dimensions are the same.

Or does anyone have another suggestion?

Because such a hutch provides a lot of extra storage, especially when space is limited.

Regards,
Steffi

Hi,
how about this:

White wall unit with open shelves on the left and a light blue glass panel on the right

MICKE
Tall wall cabinet, white

You could attach a few hooks on the outer left and right sides to hang these here:

Perforated stainless steel cylinder with many round holes; a kitchen strainer or infuser.

ORDNING
Cutlery holder, stainless steel

Perfect for pens, ruler, and small items

Best regards

I don’t understand why this Besta shelving unit is called an “attachment shelf.” It would be better described as a wall shelf since it is mounted on the wall and can be combined in various ways.
For a first grader, I find the desk too high. Also, you should consider whether you have time to sit with him in the room while he does his homework or if he will more likely do it in the room where you are, while you are doing (house)work.

Hi

Have you already checked out the entire MICKE series? It offers more space and expansion options than the Alex/Linnmon combination.

Much more important than having a lot of storage is a good chair and a lamp. And if more books and supplies accumulate over the next few years, you can always add a mobile pedestal, a hutch, etc.
