ᐅ Ikea Lillviken drain trap doesn’t hold water – am I doing something wrong?

Hello everyone,
I’ve been struggling for hours trying to install an Ikea Lillviken siphon. The hollow screw does not engage with the drain strainer, so the siphon is hanging loosely under the sink. Is this a manufacturing defect or am I doing something wrong? The installation instructions don’t seem too complicated… (see photos)

If you do it exactly as shown on page 8, then you will need to make a claim.
Is the screw perhaps a bit crooked? Maybe have your wife or daughter give it a try.
