Sektionschef1 Aug 2012 15:49Dear forum members,
This is my first time registering here because I plan to design and then install an IKEA kitchen. For example, I would post an initial draft here, and friendly, experienced IKEA users could give me tips and advice on what to improve or change in my plan.
I have briefly read some posts here, but I haven’t really found any detailed planning assistance. Is that not common here?
Therefore, my question is:
Is it advisable to post my design drafts here and ask for planning help?
Best regards,
Sektionschef

Maverick18542 Aug 2012 07:11Hello,
this is very general, and many people here are not professionals. Of course, we always try to help, but providing assistance based on pictures is never easy. Personally, I refrain from giving planning advice like this because I don’t want to be responsible if something goes wrong. I’m not a kitchen expert.
If you have a question and get stuck, we will always try to help.
The only person I can think of here who might have a lot of kitchen knowledge (though I could be mistaken) is probably ikeaner.
@Ikeaner: Am I right???
If you want a perfect plan, I recommend the following approach:
- Take kitchen measurements from IKEA
- Do your own planning
- Ask questions / get feedback in forums
- Consult the IKEA kitchen department
- Revise the plan
- Ask questions / get feedback in forums again
- Get a second opinion from the IKEA kitchen department
- Have the kitchen purchased (shopping service)
- Have the kitchen delivered and installed
This way, you are mostly out of the way of any issues.
There is no 100% guarantee with planning, but this process gives you a variety of opinions and minimizes sources of error.
You are not responsible for delivery or installation—that is the installers’ responsibility, so in case of any damage, you are protected.
I hope I could help you.

Hello,
I haven’t really found this elsewhere either. I would really appreciate being able to discuss my planning with like-minded people. That doesn’t mean you can’t still get help and have your plans checked at the furniture store. But it’s quite different from just discussing everything with a salesperson at the furniture store.
Best regards, Tina
