Markus78_821625 Jan 2016 17:19Hello, maybe someone here can help me.
I recently bought a kitchen from IKEA and had it installed right away. The installation went more or less smoothly. Only one cable for the lighting was missing. Since I consider myself reasonably handy, I thought it wouldn’t be a problem to connect the lighting… or so I thought.
My problem is as follows:
On the left and right sides next to the range hood (extractor hood), I have the "Utrusta" under-cabinet lighting installed below the wall cabinets. The light on the left side of the range hood works fine. However, because the connecting cable for the lighting on the right side was missing, I wanted to install it now. But this is easier said than done, as there is no space to fit the connector. The lighting on both sides is mounted so close to the range hood that I cannot connect the lights with the cable. Is there a trick to this, or can someone help me solve this problem? I would be very grateful for any advice.

IKEA-Experte25 Jan 2016 17:48Hello, if you have, for example, two 60cm (24 inches) lights on the right, you can replace them with a 40cm (16 inches) light with power supply (whose connection is at the back) and an 80cm (31 inches) light.

Markus78_821625 Jan 2016 19:07Hello, unfortunately I have no other option but to use the existing light fixture. The fixture to the right of the range hood is 40cm (16 inches) long, but I would prefer not to mount it away from the wall.

IKEA-Experte25 Jan 2016 19:30I don’t understand this now. You can simply replace the 40cm (15.7 inches) light fixture without power supply with one that has it.

Markus78_821625 Jan 2016 19:41The 40cm (15.7 inches) light fixture fits perfectly into a gap, and it should definitely be possible to connect the lights together. Surely, I’m not the first person to buy Ikea lights that are installed on the left and right sides of a range hood.

IKEA-Experte26 Jan 2016 15:59Most people buy fireplace hoods, so this issue does not usually arise. For the light fixture with power supply, it costs only €5 more, which is justified compared to the price difference between a medium and a tall Maximera.
