Hello,

I have a small problem with the Ivar chests of drawers with 3 drawers.

The bottom panel in these drawers can move slightly forward and backward. If it slides too far in one direction, it breaks downward.

Does anyone know this issue and is there a way to fix it?

Thanks
Ivar

If everything is assembled without gaps, it might be a manufacturing defect that I would consider claiming. Additionally, I would try to create a support brace similar to the one used in Malm, or install a larger and sturdier base, especially if it’s not just for very light items.

Hi,

the problem occurs with two dressers, so a manufacturing defect is rather unlikely. I suspect a design flaw instead.

Maybe there were just some heavy items inside. The dressers are already somewhat old.

Therefore, the idea of adding a support brace sounds interesting to me. How could something like that be made?

Thank you

You buy a U-profile at the hardware store, drill holes at the ends, saw into the corners, and bend the metal. Then you screw the rail to the front and back panels. Take a look at the assembly instructions for an 80cm (31.5 inches) wide Malm dresser.

Hi,

thanks, but I would have preferred a bit less effort since there are a total of 6 drawers.

Actually, it would be enough to somehow secure the bottoms so they don’t slide anymore.
But I can’t think of a solution for that.

I think the effort required for my idea is actually quite minimal.

If you want to fix the floor in place, you can use the RV 8 stabilizer:
