Hello everyone,
I have a question.
Today I saw a picture where someone attached GRYTNÄS fronts (40cm x 100cm (16 inches x 39 inches)) to a Billy shelf unit (80cm x 106cm (31 inches x 42 inches)).
I thought it looked really good and would like to replicate it.
The Utrusta hinges don’t fit the Billy shelf, since the dimensions are different, of course.
My question is whether any of you have done this before, or if you can give me some tips, or maybe even have the measurements?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Dietmar

Hello,

You have to drill the appropriate holes yourself (for Metod, edge distance 20 mm (0.8 inches), 52 mm (2 inches), see https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/lochabstand-utrusta-medod-und-System-32.20972/#p16328).

Hello Dietmar,
how did the project go? Were there any major difficulties? Would you recommend combining the two series?
I am currently facing a decision, as I am looking for a narrow tall kitchen cabinet and since Metod does not offer any 40cm (15.7 inches) tall cabinets, I wanted to combine a Billy with the Grytnäs door.
I would appreciate your feedback.
Best regards!

Hello 1234fan

There are 40cm (16 inches) tall cabinets in the METOD system available in depths of 40cm (16 inches) and 60cm (24 inches)...

Hello Fan 1234
Sorry for not writing sooner.
I combined the two parts, and I have to say the result is absolutely excellent. It looks great, is really sturdy, and the dimensions work perfectly together.
Changing the drill holes was quite a test of patience, though. Lots of measuring, marking, and stopping until I got the right measurements. Unfortunately, I no longer have my template, otherwise I could send you the measurements. Too bad. That would have made things a lot easier.
But with some patience (which is not my strong suit), it’s doable. It’s important that if you want to modify several cabinets, you make a cardboard template where you mark the holes. Then the other cabinets can be done quickly.

I wish you lots of success.
The result will be worth it.
Regards,
Dietmar
