Hello everyone,

we have a small issue with the fact that the tall cabinet is 233 cm (92 inches) high and the Framtid oven is 59 cm (23 inches) tall. Has anyone ever tried to fit, in the lower part of the tall cabinet, in addition to the two standard full-extension drawers (totaling 57 cm (22 inches)), a 9 cm (4 inch) drawer below, then the oven above it, and finally a 90 cm (35 inch) door at the top? On paper, it should work if I replace the shelf on which the oven normally sits with the rail intended for installation in the lower Faktum units.

Thank you very much for your help!

I don’t have a tall cabinet, but it should be considered that the floor also provides a stabilizing function for the cabinet.

Stability should not be an issue, as the tall cabinet is connected to another tall cabinet on one side and a wall cabinet/base cabinet on the other side, and is also anchored to the wall with two 10mm (0.4 inch) dowels. Additionally, there are three shelves inside the upper part of the tall cabinet.

Hi,

Since you want to use a 90cm (35 inch) door instead of the standard 92cm (36 inch), the dimensions should generally fit. However, there will definitely be a 0.6cm (0.24 inch) gap because you won’t be shortening the 9.4cm (3.7 inch) trim to 8cm (3.1 inch) as you would with a 92cm (36 inch) door. There might also be an issue with the hole spacing. And lastly, you probably won’t be very happy with the mini drawer. To get a proper fit against the oven, the reinforced bottom is built into the drawer. You’ll have an internal height of maybe 3–4cm (1.2–1.6 inch). If you’re lucky, the shallow baking tray and/or the rack will fit, and that’s about it.

If you want to give it a try, good luck.

Instead of the floor, he wants to use the metal angle brackets from the base cabinet. Instead of the 9.4cm (3.7 inches) panel, the standard drawer front could be used and trimmed to fit.

Ah, Ikea expert! If only you’d read all the way through. Thanks for the tip. Using the 13 cm (5.1 inches) panel is certainly possible, but then you don’t have edge banding to cover the cut like with the 9.4 cm (3.7 inches) panel. So that’s a downside too. The idea with the bracket is interesting, but it’s probably quite fiddly to get the oven positioned at the right height so nothing rubs, and I doubt the standard holes will line up.

A lot is possible, after all we’re talking about IKEA! Whether it still ends up looking good remains to be seen. A photo would be great if it worked out.
