Hello dear Ikea fans,

we are about to purchase our Ikea kitchen. Now I remembered that there needs to be space for an under-sink appliance below the sink.

For the sink cabinet, I had planned to get the "Faktum base cabinet for sink/drawer/1 door" with the number FA 166.

Does anyone happen to have this cabinet and could measure how deep the two drawers are?

That way, I can calculate how much space is left between the two drawers and the wall, and whether the under-sink appliance would fit behind the drawers when they are closed.

Thank you very much in advance, best regards 🙂

Below there is a depth of 45cm (18 inches) and above a depth of 35cm (14 inches)...

But don’t forget the siphon – it also needs space!

I don’t have exactly the same base cabinet, but once the sink, faucet, and trap are installed, there isn’t much space left!

I wouldn’t know where to fit any drawers there. I think there will only be enough room for a few bottles of cleaning products and a small bucket.

My sink cabinet has the same overall dimensions. The bottom drawer should still have space. As for the second one, I don’t see how that would work. When you buy it, you can simply leave out the middle (hidden) drawer at first. You buy everything separately anyway... the carcass, door, drawer, drawer front, shelves, hinges, etc. So if you actually have the space later, you can easily add the small middle drawer in just a few minutes!

Alternative:
The middle drawer can be installed a bit lower. However, in that case, the usefulness of the bottom drawer becomes less clear. In the end, it will probably come down to a test.

Okay, that already helps me a lot.

I got one of those space-saving siphons and hope to gain a few valuable centimeters that way. The middle drawer doesn’t need to fit anything tall—just up to about the height of a dish soap bottle, and maybe some deep bins underneath for recycling paper and glass.

I’ll just have to test it out. I just thought that you buy cabinets complete, not piece by piece. I probably should have guessed that.

One more question!

Do I need to check in with the supervisor before I pick out the kitchen furniture in the warehouse, or can I just print my list at home and start taking everything right away? 😕

If shelf and compartment numbers are already noted on your list, you can pick it up yourself in the storage area.

However, I would bet that, apart from exceptions like appliances or similar items, you mostly get kitchen supplies through the goods issue area – meaning you will need to get a printout from the kitchen department.
