Hello,
my Faktum kitchen is from 1992 and is still basically in good condition.
Do the current fronts still fit the kitchen? When I measured, I found differences in the dimensions of about 1 cm (0.4 inches). Maybe someone has already had experience with this.

As far as I know, the dimensions have never been changed. In 1996, they were certainly the same as today. What did you measure? It is important that the carcass of the base cabinets is 70 cm (28 inches) high, and for the wall cabinets either 70 cm (28 inches) or 92 cm (36 inches).

Hello,

as far as I know, the cabinet sizes have not changed. The only difference is that drawer cabinets with 50cm (20 inches) width are no longer available. Otherwise, the IKEA expert already gave you the dimensions. You can also get a price list for fronts at your local IKEA; it includes all the measurements as well as the prices. It’s just a single sheet and is located right next to the front displays.

A small tip: If you have “odd” measurements like 59.6cm (23.5 inches), always round up to a clean 60cm (24 inches). Otherwise, it gets confusing. 😎

There are only gimmicks like the 50cm (20 inch) drawer cabinets no longer being available.

Gimmicks? I find it more frustrating that the 50cm (20 inch) base cabinet is no longer offered with a drawer. A 50cm (20 inch) drawer front, a 57cm (22 inch) door, and the drawer boxes separately—this would be enough to provide greater flexibility. IKEA wants to expand its share of the kitchen market in Germany but offers significantly fewer options than dedicated kitchen manufacturers, and the price difference is no longer as big as it used to be.

In small kitchens, you don’t always have unlimited combinations to compensate for the loss of the 50cm (20 inch) drawer cabinet. No, a drawer in the 50cm (20 inch) cabinet is not a gimmick.

Don’t worry, the fronts will fit. My Faktum cabinets are just as old, and we replaced the fronts last year as well.

Unfortunately, the 50 cm (20 inch) drawers are no longer available—I also find that a pity.

You do need a bit of DIY skill if you want to keep the old 60 cm (24 inch) drawers and only change the fronts. The new drawer fronts don’t have the groove anymore, but if you have a circular saw, you can mill the groove yourself and then use the new fronts with the old drawer boxes.

Would anyone keep the old drawers voluntarily, unless money is really tight? Those things were terrible. They were hard to open, sometimes squeaked, and didn’t have soft-close features.
