Today, around 3:30 PM, I wanted to borrow a small wooden cart at IKEA Leipzig to carry my granddaughter and some shopping. I found out that they only lend it out upon presentation of a personal ID.
However, since I didn’t have my ID with me but was carrying plenty of cash, I offered to leave a deposit of 50 or even 100 euros as security.
NO, NO, NO!
The employee from management, who was not exactly unfriendly, refused this, explaining that they do not want to handle cash in that area. So, no cart for me!
I was planning to set up a room for my granddaughter and even showed him a bundle of cash, asking if he would accept it and let me have a cart. He politely but firmly said no.
Now, dear IKEA team, I packed my daughter, my granddaughter, and a thick bundle of money, drove 80 kilometers (50 miles) for nothing, and I am extremely angry because you refused to take my money!
And you know what? You will never get another cent from me! Apparently, you don’t need my business!
Best regards

You can maintain the lie as long as the state manages to shield people from the political, economic, and military consequences of the lie. That is why it is vital for the state to use all its power to suppress dissenting opinions. Truth is the mortal enemy of lies, and therefore truth is the greatest enemy of the state.”And what does that have to do with the ID and “qualified” address data...
Address data...
I take a socially marginalized group (look near the train station) and tell them they’ll get a “twenty” if they enter the names from the doorbells and mailboxes at the house numbers into a list (created beforehand in Excel and printed), duration 4 hours.
Value of such a “qualified” data set? You lose money because no one buys it.
Qualified...
available household income, hobbies, occupation, other interests, children (with age), renters, homeowners (owner-occupied), property owners (landlords), vehicle owners (make, age), endless list.
So “Grandpa...” if all that is on your ID card, I’m interested, by the way, in everyone else’s too—I’ll find a buyer.
As for the rest, everyone is responsible for their own actions...
Yes, identity theft exists, but seriously, do you really believe that any mafia would go through the trouble of placing a “family member” at IKEA (or any other company or medical practice) who copies or records IDs without email addresses... “We shape their opinion.”
The rest of the squabbling in the last two posts is none of my business 😱

"We form their opinion" Of course! I don’t just believe it, I know it!
It is pointless and probably the wrong forum to debate the quality of addresses and their data protection here.
In any case, I would have been very pleased if the manager had responded flexibly and with a customer-oriented approach so that I could use such a wagon for my granddaughter.
There are enough civil servants who simply follow the rules (or even less); I don’t need to go to IKEA for that.
In my business, customers are treated the way I want to be treated myself.
And that especially means: there is always a solution! – whatever it may be!
But for that, you have to look for compromises and not just rely on rules, regulations, or your own laziness!

...Belief begins where knowledge ends. A Roman once said that...
Whether this is the wrong forum—yes, definitely. But regarding qualified and unqualified datasets, I believe I have a pretty good understanding based on my previous work experience.
Of course, it may be interesting for someone to know how many people live on a particular street—after all, sidewalks have to be planned. However, these authorities have access to public offices to obtain that number. Using such data for effective advertising with minimal wastage (since everything costs money), among many other purposes, is nonsense.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding the rest:
If I set rules for my company, I should follow them consistently...
If you make one exception, you end up making only exceptions; favoritism, arbitrariness, “what do they have that I don’t.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just as it is the employer’s right to use the probation period to determine if the candidate fits the company, it is also the candidate’s right to decide if the company suits them...
Your probation period didn’t last very long, and you realized the company wasn’t right for you. An isolated case—who cares, thousands of others with other reasons for different decisions...
However, I have read very little about such cases here on the web so far...

Seems like you’d like to start a fight, huh?
